Still sick, but getting better. Eating corn and contemplating life.

Day 658
May 30th
Alexander tried to put Duplo people in the bus and at first I thought he was frustrated that they wouldn't fit in the door, but then he smiled and shook his head and that meant I should ask, "Do they fit in the door"? and answer, "No"!

First the bus was a slide,

and then a bed.

Drove the bus (and himself) under the coffee table.

Day 656
May 28th
Building with Duplo.

Emma and Isaac have dance once a week at school and they put on a show once a year where each class does a dance. Alexander and I were way in the back and couldn't see much, but I took a picture of Emma during the break. The dances are a departure from the school's usual classic/folk repertoire; Isaac's class danced to Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and Emma's class to Madonna's "Vogue". Most of the kids really enjoy this, but Isaac tried to stay as far in the back as he could :-)

Alexander was a handful on the way home (tired) and Isaac and Emma were a huge help in holding him and keeping him from having a toddler meltdown.

At the subway station Stadion.

Day 655
May 27th
Still sick, but feeling much better.
Alexander likes to throw his paper towel in the trash after he has wiped off his hands and mouth. He does enjoy the trash can, and sometimes when I cannot find something I wonder if it has ended up in there. We still haven't found our measuring spoons (they have been missing for months). Hmm.

Playing on the sofa.

Dropping things and saying, "it fell" seems to provide endless entertainment, as if he is learning about gravity; will it fall if I drop it this time too?

Day 654
May 26th
Alexander still had a fever on and off through the day. Lasse stayed home in the morning, and went to work when I came home. Alexander was panting with exhaustion while sorting these shapes; it is fun to see children's need to play.

Alexander sorts the shapes in order, doing the easiest ones (circle, oval) first and then progressing to the square/star/triangle/cross and then to the hexagon and pentagon (which are a bit challenging because they are so similar) and finishing with the irregularly shaped and tricky trapezoid and quarter circle!

Got it!

Day 645
May 17th
Today was warm, but Alexander wanted to have a thick shirt on over his shirt, and then he wanted another shirt on top of the thick shirt.
When Alexander heard the fire station's alarm, he grabbed his firetruck and climbed up to look out the window; however, the fire trucks are fast, and were already gone.

Isaac helps Alexander bounce a ping pong ball.

Day 644
May 16th
Isaac turns 15!
Playing with 3D tic tac toe.

Looking at the cars while the rest of us enjoy Isaac's birthday dinner.
Alexander is still eating very little after being sick; he only had a piece of bread.

Day 643
May 15th
Alexander dropped a heavy pot on his foot :-( and then (several hours later) refused to walk and was crying a lot while holding his foot, so I took him to the doctor. Alexander wasn't too impressed with the outing, but they did have some nice fish to look at and it wasn't too busy. The doctor gave him a sticker. He is limping, but his foot is fine.
