Day 447

October 31st

Happy Halloween!

Emma helped dress Alexander up (as a babushka baby?).
Alexander loves shoes and he decided the outfit needed some.


Sadly, I couldn't get those colorful shoes on his feet, too small! Put some too large ones on instead. Alexander was patient.



All this activity made him very tired and he was falling asleep during and after lunch, here on the diaper table, smiling in his sleep.

Day 446

October 30th

Alexander had great fun pouring water back and forth between two cups and has gotten good at it. At dinner he got a bit irritated when we wouldn't let him do the same thing with milk.



Sometimes he missed and then he asked for a refill.

Day 445

October 29th

Alexander slept in till 7:30 this morning!


Alexander thought the cats needed more food, so he brought a bowl and banged on the closet door where the food is kept.

Day 444

October 28th

Alexander likes to sit with his knees up in his high chair. We have him strapped in, he does try to stand up.


He has recently learned to lift up his hands when he wants to get up.

October 27th

We visited a friend who has two birds. Alexander was intrigued.


The tamer of the two birds found Alexander interesting too,


especially his fluffy hair.

Day 442

October 26th

When Isaac is at school Alexander likes to go into his room where he mostly just gazes at things. I wonder if he remembers all the nice times we had there last year?

Day 441

October 25th

I came home from work late (6:45 pm) and Alexander was very tired, he had an early nap today. I got him to go to sleep at 7:30 pm and thought he was down for the night, but it was merely a power nap. He woke up at 8 very bright eyed and bushy tailed and played two hours.

Day 440

October 24th

More vintage clothing, this time a pair of overalls that were Mommy's!


Alexander sticks his tongue out when he is concentrating.


Daddy is quite pleased that Alexander has started to build with Duplo.


Alexander climbed up and down the couch about 20 times in a row.

Day 439

October 23rd

We've rented a car this weekend, and this morning we went to "City Gross" (yes, it is really called that), a large store which has a good selection of food (I even found a big can of Hatch green chile there once, haven't seen it since though). Anyway, they had strawberries, small flavorful ones from Holland. Alexander laughed out loud when he saw them, he was so happy.


Emma was baking, but took a break to play with Alexander.
If you look closely, you can see Emma's fancy nails.

Day 438

October 22nd

First snow of the year!

What Alexander thought of the snow:

Swinging was much better. He swang until he fell asleep.


Alexander watched a magpie for a long time; it was hopping around on the skateboard ramp.


From morning to night Alexander is finding this old sash from Lasse's robe, and bringing it to us. He wants us to play with the cats, they like to chase it around (sometimes). Other times they would rather sleep, but Alexander thinks they should play all the time.

He has different socks on because when I went to put on the second green sock he shook his head "no" and put the red sock into my hand. I pointed out that the 2nd green sock matched but he didn't care, he prefered the red one :-)


Another activity Alexander enjoys is walking around with pot lids and finding new and exciting homes for them. At least this time it was in the right room. He also likes to put his socks in interesting places.

Day 437

October 21st

Sorting tea. We go through a lot of tea in this family.

We've recently been going through the closets and found some of Lasse's old clothes.

Day 436

October 20th

Alexander has a fever and has been curled up on me most of the day, too tired to even look at a book, but having a hard time sleeping (he is finally sleeping now). We did "This little piggy", and when I was done with one foot he held up the other foot up in the air. He is communicating more and more, for instance if I ask him if he is hungry, he touches his upper lip.

Felt better for a little while,


and then sick again.

Day 435

October 19th

Playing with Isaac. When Isaac comes home Alexander often wants to give him a big hug and lay his head on Isaac's chest for a few moments.

Day 434

October 18th

Alexander sleeping. He has a sweaty head.


He rolled over when I took the above picture and continued sleeping with his feet in a rather odd position.

Day 433

October 17th

Alexander has a lot to say, but it is all involving: "ma", "da", and "ba". I think I hear him saying "Emma" and he calls me "Mama". He has said "Baba and Dada" for Lasse. Birds are "ba ba" and so are rainbows (I have hung up crystals in our apartment and we have a lot of rainbows on sunny days). Lights and subways and cars and buses are "da".
