Day 1023

Leaving daycare, we stopped in their gym room to play for a few minutes.

Most nights Alexander takes a step ladder over to his closet where his books are kept and picks out several books to read.

I told Alexander that his cousins were coming. They were coming at 3 pm, but he started watching for them at 8 am.

Day 1020

Continued shoe shopping for Isaac, this time with Lasse's help we were successful :-) Moomin was also on hand! Alexander did not want to give him a hug but wanted to wave at him.

On the bus, going home. It was quite a scene on the bus because there were too many prams and strollers and people were arguing (luckily after we had already gotten on) about who had been at the bus stop first.

Day 1019

Isaac needs new shoes, so we went and tried to find some. It was hard to make a decision with Alexander along!

On the train, going to spend the day with Farmor and Farfar. Alexander loved looking out the window, going through tunnels, and seeing other trains pass by.

Alexander is collecting "shiny stars" when he goes potty - great success!

Emma came home and built a fort under the table with Alexander and they had play ice cream.

Day 1014

Sunday morning = blueberry pancakes. Alexander helps me make them and he is getting really good at stirring and dumping in the ingredients.

I told Alexander that Lasse and Isaac wanted to take him on a bike ride and next thing I know he had gotten his tricycle off the balcony and was driving it to the front door.

I think Emma took a nice picture of Alexander today, but it is still on her phone ...

Happy Birthday Isaac 16 years old! We had our usual celebratory everyone-gets-what-they-want meal at the local food court: Isaac had his current favorite shrimp + noodles, Lasse chicken and noodles, Emma chicken and bulgar, Mommy vegetarian salad - we fed Alexander before we left and just let him snack on bread and finish up with ice cream :-)

On the way home from daycare we stopped to ride on this elephant.

Lasse and Miranda took turns getting reading done in the morning, and at a certain point Alexander thought we had done enough of that and that we should all three have coffee together, served in bed, with great enthusiasm.

Isaac's class had a party for the 9th graders and their parents. Here is Alexander sleeping after an evening of play with Farmor, Farfar, and Emma. He is losing his short legged toddler body - almost three years old - Wow.

Day 1004

Alexander and Lasse on the subway, going to town to listen to Isaac's class concert.

Day 1003

I took Alexander on the bus and train to spend the day with his grandparents. He ate a pancake on the way and provided running commentary, "the doors are opening! Lots of people on the train! The doors are closing! We're going! That man is reading!" etc

Out in nature, looking at a creek (thanks for the photo Farmor); Alexander was excited to tell me later on about seeing TWO rabbits with TWO ears (placing fingers on head) that stood straight up!

Day 1002

Building with blocks. It was very warm but Alexander refused to take off his fleece jacket. His head became wet with sweat and smelled salty. When it was time for a bath he asked if he could have bubbles (which he usually doesn't want) and then when he saw them they scared him and he wanted them removed.

Day 1001

I came home late and found this Santa Elf sleeping in our bed.

Day 1000

1000 days old! Alexander's foot was still hurting, and he wouldn't put weight on it, so Lasse took him to the hospital where they took an x-ray and said that it was only sprained, yay! I was on my way to join them, but everything went so fast that by the time I left home they were leaving the hospital. When he got home, Alexander hobbled around the hall and said, "min fot bra" - my foot is OK!

Day 999

Alexander hurt his foot when climbing on an unstable box and he kept trying to walk on it and discovered it still hurt. Not easy to be still when he is used to running around. He tried to be happy but it was hard and he was very tired in the evening.

Today when I picked Alexander up from daycare it was warm! He ran in the woods and skipped and hopped for joy. Soon everything will be green. Alexander was covered with from head to toe in sand, and he had an early bath.

May 1st holiday - Lasse and Isaac and Alexander went on a long bike ride, saw some animals, and ate some pear.
