June 29th

Emma and I picked Alexander up from daycare and took him to a park. It was very hot, and they had a big wading pool, but Alexander did not want to go near it. He went on this big swing with Emma, and then with Mommy (until she got nauseous).



We sought out shade and had a snack.

Day 687

June 28th

I didn't quite capture the moment here, but what I wanted to show is how physically coordinated Alexander has become. He was standing on one foot and stretching out his right leg, leaning back and forth, standing on his toes, etc! At first I stood close to him, but he asked me in his special toddler way to BACK OFF, and he never came close to falling off the chair.

Day 685

June 27th

Another strawberry day. Isaac stayed an extra day at the summer house and came home with a bucket of wild strawberries he and his grandparents had picked!


Also, for the 2nd year in a row we are growing strawberries on the balcony and we harvested the first two today! Isaac and Emma generously divided one and let Alexander have the other one.

June 25th

Lasse likes to chase after and photograph butterflies.


Later, Alexander jumped on the trampoline while we played a series of games involving throwing objects at/on/through other objects.

June 24th

Happy Midsummer! Alexander had one of the best weekends of his life so far :-) surrounded by his favorite people (not only us but grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins) and being at his grandparent's summer house which is very child friendly; swing, trampoline, wild strawberries, blueberries, a nearby bathing place, play house, etc.

Enjoyed playing in this small house. Cooked some sand food and rearranged and examined dishes.


There were tons of wild strawberries. Cousin Alva was especially good at picking them, and Alexander watched and learned.

Day 682

June 23rd

At our hotel in Cyprus there was a wide ramp that Alexander loved walking (and eventually running) up and down. At his daycare they have two narrow ramps for prams which he hasn't been able to walk down alone. Today he walked down one of the narrow ramps and shot me a proud smile.

"Bow bar" = blueberry.

Back home, playing with Isaac on the couch when not looking out the window at the fire station and the subways going by every ten minutes.

June 20th

What a fast week! Waiting for the bus to the airport. Alexander was very excited about flying today, because he remembered it from last week. He stared out the window of the airplane and commented on the water ("Fish"!) and the clouds. He slept about 1.5 hours of the four hour flight and Isaac and Emma helped make things easier too.

June 19th

Our last day in Cyprus. Beach life: a picnic lunch in the shade,


games in the sand,



and a nice nap.

June 18th

Emma took several pictures of Alexander in this crib. He didn't sleep in there, but played there while we cooked.

Alexander played with coins every day.

June 16th

Alexander and Emma enjoying each other's company over a breakfast of yoghurt, watermelon, and bananas.

While Isaac and Mommy went grocery shopping, Alexander, Emma and Daddy played in a park.

June 14th

Alexander hasn't liked getting in the bath for a long time now and we were not too surprised about his reaction when he saw the water.


He did not want to touch the sand either, but after sitting and watching Emma he couldn't resist playing in "the big sandbox".

June 13th

At the airport, checking out the airplanes.


On the airplane. Fascinating stuff, going up in the air. Emma gave Alexander her old toy airplane and he played with it and said, "Up"!


First item on the agenda upon arrival, a long nap! He was exhausted. Lasse and teens went down to check out the beach.
