Day 386

August 31st

Alexander is eating a banana and looking at the newspaper.
He wants whatever section we happen to be reading.

Playing with Emma in the afternoon.

Alexander tries out a new and more challenging way to play with his walker wagon.
He will be walking pretty soon, he walks while holding to us with only one hand.

Day 385

August 30th

Fun with Emma.

Alexander has discovered how to play a kazoo.

Day 384

August 29th

Alexander is feeling better and enjoying eating again.
Mommy was still sick and really boring! But Daddy was fun to be with.

Day 383

August 28th
Morning stroll down the hallway. Yummy finger.
Looking thinner after being sick.

Emma showing Alexander her Kooky pens.

Neighborhood party, playing on the grass with Hello Kitty balls.
Mommy was sick today, and Alexander was half sick, so we didn't stay long.

Day 382

August 27th

Alexander, who has been sick all week, sounded even worse this morning, so I took him to the doctor. It wasn't too crowded at the health clinic and Alexander can still be entertained pretty easily, as long as it is something new. I gave him my keys and he threw them angrily on the floor (old stuff, keys). I gave him a paper from my wallet that made a nice crinkling sound and he passed it back and forth through doors and windows in a toy house. He thought that was great fun. He also charmed an elderly lady.

Alexander was fine when the doctor did a throat swab and when the nurse pricked his finger; he didn't enjoy it but he didn't cry either. He did test positive for strep throat, and is now on antibiotics.

When we came home, he explored Isaac's drawer of treasures. When I took him to another room, he kept crawling back in there. We moved the dangerous/fragile stuff out this evening.

Getting ready for a bath, a favorite activity. He is trying to climb into the tub while I am still undressing him.

Some bath toys were in another room, and Alexander missed them. He looked around, over the side of the tub, and grunted persistently "asking" for them. I predict some frustrating times now, when he knows what he wants, but doesn't have the words to tell us!

Instead of a pacifier or thumb, a duplo figure.

Day 381

August 26th

Blocks and duplo animal fun.

Stretching to explore behind the keyboard.

When I said, "Farmor and Farfar are coming", Alexander got very excited and instructed me with points and grunts to carry him to the door to wait for them.

He communicated to Farmor that he wanted a toy out of the glass cupboard.

Chatting with Farfar.

Happy baby, despite being sick.

Day 380

August 25th

Eyelashes!

You can put balls in this fun toy and they roll down the pathways.
Or, you can put your Duplo figures in there and get Mommy to help shake them down.

Walked up and down the hall with Emma's doll pram.

No fever today, but a very runny nose.

Almost too tired to stand up.

Passed out on Daddy who was watching "Lord of the Rings" with Isaac.

Day 379

August 24th

Still sick, but happy to see Daddy.

Before I take Alexander to bed he says "goodnight" and waves "bye bye" happily. When he says "goodbye" to us when we are leaving the apartment he shakes his head "no" and cries while waving.

Mommy reads a favorite book.

Very interesting.

Day 378

August 23rd

Alexander had enough energy to play in the morning. Emma took pictures since I was at work. Here, Alexander was frustrated because he wanted three hands; two to drive the walker wagon and one to hold the duplo figure with.

Problem solved!

Most of the day he slept/rested on Daddy. He didn't want to eat anything either.

Day 377

August 22nd

We went to a Christening today, which was very nice. The ceremony was in Greek but I think we understood the gist of things :-)

Alexander slept in his pram through most of the ceremony and most of the party afterwards. We hope this means that he didn't make anyone sick; we thought he was a bit under the weather from teething, but in the evening he started to cough and had a fever.

Day 376

August 21st

Miscellaneous notes:
Alexander can stand for a few seconds, walk with his walker wagon, and likes to throw a ball back and forth.

He also likes clapping songs, such as, "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands".

Friday, August 20, 2010

Day 375

August 20th

Banging on a toy with shimmering balls.

Sleeping. Hard to believe, but he looked even more relaxed before I took the picture. The noise of the camera made some muscles twitch.

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Day 374

August 19th

Sad times. Maybe he has the cold Lasse and Emma have or maybe he is getting teeth or maybe something else. All he tells us is, "ah" (wah without the "w").

He had little bouts of being happy,

but mostly wanted to play quietly while sitting beside Mommy.

Day 373

August 18th

Alexander received a crib from relatives with older children and we set it up today.

If he stands on his tip toes he can see the subways drive by, which they do about 300 times a day :-)

He can also see the fire station and all that goes on there. When we first moved in I envisioned a toddler's joy at looking out these windows.

We've moved the plant!

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Day 372

August 17th

Mommy dug out some wooden beads that used to belong to Daddy.
They were fun to bang together.

Monday, August 16, 2010

Day 371

August 16th

Playing peek-a-boo with a flower plate.

He hasn't tried the cat's food yet.
