Day 1475

At a playground on the way home from daycare, counting how many times he goes down the slide.

Day 1474

Thursday. Lasse asked me if his outfit was too special and I said no way! I LOVE that bright colorful pants are in fashion now. Lasse met Emma after work to take pictures. I picked up Alexander and it took us an hour to wander home. Now that he isn't using a stroller he gets to climb the 6 flights of stairs at home, which he loves to do. Our building is now covered in plastic and netting.

Day 1473

Wednesday. When I pick Alexander up from daycare we take the scenic route home through the woods. Showing me a rock.

Day 1472

Tuesday. Emma has bought a system camera, which arrived today. She takes fantastic pictures, and we are looking forward to what she captures with this camera.

Day 1471

Monday. Home again, playing a favorite game with me involving a chicken who lays eggs. Emma has two more days of summer vacation. She has had a great summer, and has gotten to spend a lot of time alone with me (without Alexander), which was good.

Day 1468

Alexander's daycare celebrated the birthdays of the children who had had birthdays during the summer. This included singing to them, having ice-cream, a birthday card, and balloons = to their ages. Lasse took Alexander out to the country, and Alexander took his balloons on the bus.

Day 1467

Thursday
Banana pancakes with strawberry jam cut up like pizza pie.

Day 1466

Wednesday
No picture of Alexander today. Second day back to daycare.

Day 1465

Tuesday
Alexander was back to daycare today after having 5 weeks off. He was happy to see his friends again and didn't hesitate for more than a second when saying goodbye to me in the morning. In the evening he needed a bath and we gave him the motor for the Playmobil boat we had given him for his birthday.

Day 1464

Monday
Alexander spent the morning building Lego. He built the firetruck last night, and the garbage truck and building on fire this morning.

Day 1463

Happy Birthday Alexander, 4 years old! Alexander woke up and told me it was his birthday. We got Isaac and Emma up too and gave Alexander presents, which was obviously appreciated. We gave him a Thomas the train engine + repair house, a playmobil boat, some Moomin figures and a peg (?) design toy. Isaac gave Alexander a Lego set and Emma gave him three playmobil figures. Later we had a birthday dinner (pasta salad + garlic bread) with relatives. Instead of a cake we had ice-cream sundaes, since Alexander refuses to eat cake. Alexander opened more presents: a Lego garbage truck, Lego fire truck and house, pajamas, and an Alfons film. Despite getting up early Alexander had lots of energy and had a great time all evening.

Day 1462

Saturday
Sleeping with his elephant. We put Alexander in his own bed when we go to bed, and some nights he sleeps there all night. The other morning he woke up and told us, "I want that bed (pointing to his bed) to go bye-bye. I want it OUT OF OUR APARTMENT!". He does pretend that it is a little boat during the day though :-)

Day 1461

Friday August 9th
We went to town and ate ice-cream. Alexander stopped me while we were walking on the subway platform and said, "Look! Vilka fina fiskar! (What lovely fish) Can you take a picture of them?". The ice-cream scoops were huge; Alexander had mango (not pictured) which is one of the two flavors he likes (also vanilla). We took an alternate route home riding the commuter train and a bus, and met Emma on the way home from her summer job.

Day 1460

Alexander had his four year check up today, which included checking his sight and hearing. It took some coaching and convincing but worked out in the end. At home Isaac showed Alexander his Lego Technic crane, which could pick up and dump play food. Emma was also interested in Lego, looking for minifigs for a possible stop motion project.
