Day 628

April 30th

When we clean behind the couch, Alexander gets very excited. He pats our thighs to show us what he wants to do; climb over, of course!


Isaac was judging a chess competition all weekend. The rest of us went to see the cherry blossoms blooming in town.

Day 627

April 29th

Alexander drew small yellow dots and said "blommor" (flowers).


"I can do it myself" stage; Alexander was struggling to remove the cap and I asked him if he wanted help. He looked at me very seriously and said, "nej", and went back to struggling. Later on, he wanted to eat oven roasted potatoes with a fork. He was using the fork as a spoon, not stabbing the potato, and when the potato came up to his lips it would slide off and land in his bib. He tried again and again and after 5 tries it made it in his mouth and he was very proud and happy.

April 28th

Carefully examining two Hello Kitty figures.


After his bath he always wants to laugh at himself in the mirror.

April 27th

Alexander happily putting Hello Kitty figures inside a car.


Emma came home; she's been teaching Alexander to make faces.

Day 624

April 26th

Alexander hasn't been playing with the microwave lately, but he has new do-daily activities; for instance taking the dish towels off their hooks and hanging them up again. I had been lifting him up for this game,but recently I was too tired or busy (or both) so I gave him a big book to stand on. Now he goes and picks a random book (usually quite small) off the shelf himself.

Day 623

April 25th

Alexander has a new favorite word; "min", which means, "mine"; mostly used to communicate that he wants to hold something.

The day after Easter is a holiday in Sweden, so we were home from school and work.
Emma drew pictures for Alexander; Hello Kitty and flowers.

Day 622

April 24th

Happy Easter!

We had a picnic in the woods with friends. We hid chocolate eggs for the kids to find. Alexander was very enthusiastic, and easily spotted the shiny eggs. Unaware of what they were (we haven't introduced him to chocolate yet), he played with them like they were marbles.

Day 621

April 23rd

Easter Eve! We had dinner at the cousin's house. It was a beautiful day and Alexander got to jump on the trampoline!



He also requested that grownups lie on the floor; having gotten Mommy and Daddy to oblige, he "asks" Farmor, as you can see from his winning expression.


It works!


The big kids got eggs filled with candy while Alexander got eggs filled with cars and dried fruit. He was happy, and we turned a step stool into a garage.

Day 620

April 22nd

Dying Easter eggs wasn't too fun; I think the eggs reminded him of balls, balls that we wouldn't let him throw.


But the dahl was delicious!

April 21st

Modeling a hat.

April 20th

We have several adult/baby duplo animals and we play a game where I hand Alexander an animal and ask him where the baby/Mommy/Daddy is. He looks through the Duplo until he finds the missing animal and then they give each other hugs and kisses.

Day 617

April 19th

Alexander went and sat under the table and really looked at it for a few minutes, seeing it from a new perspective.


Then we played catch. Alexander loves his strawberry pajamas, and he gets annoyed when they are in the wash.


In a good mood after his bath, laughing because we were making silly faces.

Day 616

April 18th

Alexander stayed home to recuperate, but he was feeling pretty well.
Two new favorites: digging in the sand,


and cooked carrots.

Day 615

April 17th

Woke up with sweaty hair after a 40 minute nap.


Went out with Daddy, Emma, and Isaac. Emma took pictures.

Day 614

April 16th

Feeling much better today, but still not eating.
Alexander is starting to build nice towers with Duplo.

Day 613

April 15th

Alexander threw up nine (or was it ten?) times between 7pm last night and noon today. He has not mastered the art of puking into a container, in fact he resisted any such idea with great muster. Mostly, he threw up in the bed and the bathroom, but he managed to cover some other areas of the house as well. We are very grateful to have a washing maschine and dryer!

He also had a fever.



Later in the afternoon, feeling a bit better.

Day 612

April 14th

When I picked Alexander up from daycare, he didn't want to play at the park, but he didn't want to come in either. He wanted to play in the parking lot with the cars. I got tired of trying to explain that he couldn't play with the cars, so we came inside, and he was in a good mood.

A couple of hours later, he started throwing up and he was very sad, of course.

Day 611

April 13th

Have I mentioned that Alexander loves tomatoes?






After each bite, he would look at the tomato with amazement.
