Day 382

August 27th

Alexander, who has been sick all week, sounded even worse this morning, so I took him to the doctor. It wasn't too crowded at the health clinic and Alexander can still be entertained pretty easily, as long as it is something new. I gave him my keys and he threw them angrily on the floor (old stuff, keys). I gave him a paper from my wallet that made a nice crinkling sound and he passed it back and forth through doors and windows in a toy house. He thought that was great fun. He also charmed an elderly lady.

Alexander was fine when the doctor did a throat swab and when the nurse pricked his finger; he didn't enjoy it but he didn't cry either. He did test positive for strep throat, and is now on antibiotics.

When we came home, he explored Isaac's drawer of treasures. When I took him to another room, he kept crawling back in there. We moved the dangerous/fragile stuff out this evening.

Getting ready for a bath, a favorite activity. He is trying to climb into the tub while I am still undressing him.

Some bath toys were in another room, and Alexander missed them. He looked around, over the side of the tub, and grunted persistently "asking" for them. I predict some frustrating times now, when he knows what he wants, but doesn't have the words to tell us!

Instead of a pacifier or thumb, a duplo figure.
